Love Field West Community construction information

Love Field West Community: Neighborhood Construction Advisory - West of Love Field Construction on DART's exciting Green Line expansion into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton has begun in earnest and will continue until passenger service officially begins in December 2010. Listed below is a brief outline of how some of the major streets in the neighborhood west of Love Field will be affected. Denton Drive at Mockingbird Lane Motorists should expect periodic lane reduction on both streets as various construction stages proceed during the project. • Traffic is reduced to one lane each way at W. Mockingbird Lane and Denton Drive. View a street location map. • There is a traffic switch on Denton Dr. from north of Hawes Ave. to Lovedale for paving work. The northbound lanes are closed and traffic is detoured onto the southbound lanes with one lane open in each direction. Once the northbound lanes are completed, traffic will be switched to the new lanes while southbound lanes are paved. View a street location map. An Update on Improvements Under Way on Little Denton Drive Construction related to DART's Light Rail Green Line has begun along Little Denton Drive, with a series of enhancements including additional vinyl-coated fencing, added landscaping, curbs and sidewalk upgrades. Upon completion, these improvements will increase safety for the entire neighborhood. View a street location map. Work has been planned in phases, with each street closure affecting one block at a time. Sidewalks will remain open during the road construction portion of the project to maximize access for residents. PHASE 1 - Empire Central to Anson PHASE 2 - Bombay to Langdon PHASE 3 - Langdon to Amherst PHASE 4 - Amherst to Burbank • Empire Central at Little Denton is closed for paving work. View a street location map. • Little Denton between Amherst and Lovers and between Gilford and Bombay is open to local traffic only. Little Denton is open from Burbank to Amherst and from Lovers Lane to Gilford. Walnut Hill/Denton Area construction information

Walnut Hill/Denton Area: Construction for DART's exciting Green Line Expansion Program into Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, is underway and will continue until the new passenger service begins in December 2010. Construction in this area will necessitate occasional traffic shifts and detours as some of the local streets and infrastructure are improved. • Webb Chapel Extension at Denton Drive is reduced to one lane in each direction for the installation of underground utilities until further notice. View a street location map. • Denton Drive between Storey Lane and Community Drive has reopened. The portion of Denton between Community Drive and Webb Chapel remains closed until further notice. Farmers Branch Community construction information

Farmers Branch Community: Farmers Branch On-Call Boarding With Other DART Routes at Farmers Branch Park & Ride - Effective October 20, 2008 All Farmers Branch On-Call vehicles drop off and board passengers at the temporary transit center on Denton Drive. This is the location currently being used by Bus Routes 44, 185, 204, 247, 331, 400 and 486. Boarding will take place at the sign marked: DEPARTURES All Bus Routes All DART services will use this stop until the new Green Line rail station opens across the street in December 2010. Orange Line Updates:

Orange Line construction information

KEY ACTIVITIES Bridge construction is rapidly moving west and into the city of Irving. Crews have finished a large majority of the bridge substructure work (columns, caps, girders, etc.) and are headed toward the Trinity River and Spur 482 Frontage Road area. As crews continue to set girders, activities may require some temporary night closures (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) along westbound Spur 482 (including all ramps leading to westbound Spur 482) and the Spur 482 Frontage Road. Construction of the bridge superstructure (deck, rail, etc.) may require some temporary night closures (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) in this area as well. Motorists are advised to monitor Orange Line construction alerts to help minimize traffic impacts, as this area is still under construction. Information regarding these closures will be communicated. There will continue to be heavy construction activity along the median of Lake Carolyn Pkwy as crews continue utility relocations and station work. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area due to changing traffic configurations. Motorists are not permitted to drive or park inside closures. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. Additional lane restrictions in this area may be required for crews to complete activities. Please use caution in this area with changing traffic configurations. HARRY HINES/NORTHWEST HWY./I-35E/JUSTICE WAY AREA: Crews will continue bridge construction from just west of Harry Hines/ Northwest Hwy/Spur 482 toward Justice Way requiring various lane restrictions and traffic delays. Motorists are advised to monitor Orange Line Construction alerts to help minimize travel impacts. Please plan your routes, allow extra time to reach your destination, and observe any changes in speed limits or detours. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Bridge construction Rail setting operations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Bridge construction, including girder erection, and rail setting will continue for the Trinity River bridge structure from Jamison/Bachman Station to the west side of the levy on the Spur 482 Frontage Rd. Certain aspects of bridge construction will require full closures to avoid work over live traffic. Information regarding these closures will be communicated. There will be lane restrictions to southbound Justice Way at Spur 482 as crews continue bridge construction in this area. Night closures will be required to avoid bridge superstructure construction activities over live traffic. The tentative schedule is as follows (please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts): Week of March 8: March 9 and 10 (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) - Flaggers at Justice Way March 11 - Right lane of eastbound Northwest Highway at Harry Hines Week of March 15: March 16 - Right lane of eastbound Northwest Highway at Harry Hines Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts. TRINITY RIVER AREA: Bridge construction has moved into the Trinity River area. Motorists can expect to see increased activity in the Trinity as the bridge structure continues to move west. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading Drill shaft operations Pier operations Bridge construction ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Lane restrictions may be required along the Spur 482 Trinity River Bridge as bridge construction continues. Expect heavy construction traffic in this area and vehicles entering and exiting the site. SPUR 482/FEDEX/CENTRAL FREIGHT: Crews will continue utility relocation work along the Spur 482 frontage road in front of FedEx and Central Freight. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading Utility relocation Driveway reconstruction Walls ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Century Blvd is closed at the Spur 482 frontage road as crews begin work for the track crossing. FedEx employees should use the new employee drive just before Century Blvd. Signage is present to direct motorists. Use caution when traveling through the area with the increased construction traffic. Restrictions of the right lane of the Spur 482 frontage road will be required around the areas of FedEx and Central Freight for utility relocations, walls, and grading activities. Night closures of the Spur 482 frontage road will be required for girder setting operations. These closures are scheduled to begin in late March to early April. These activities will require periods of full closures as the beams are set. Flaggers will be present to stop traffic during these periods. Further detail regarding these closures will be communicated as these activities draw closer. Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts. SH 114 FRONTAGE ROAD AREA: Expect construction activity and increased truck traffic along the SH 114 frontage road around Loop 12 and the old Texas Stadium. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Activities will require restrictions of the right lane of the westbound SH 114 frontage road. Please use caution with the increased construction traffic. TELEPORT BLVD./RIVERSIDE DRIVE AREA: Utility relocation and bridge construction continues along Teleport from Riverside Dr thru to Las Colinas Blvd. Minor lane restrictions may be required for some additional utility relocation work. The majority of the work will be completed at night to minimize traffic impacts. Teleport Blvd will continue be closed permanently at SH 114 to thru traffic. Access to business drives along Teleport will remain open. Please use caution in this area with changing traffic configurations. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area and obey the advised, posted speed limit of 25 mph. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Utility relocation - The utility relocation activities at the Teleport Blvd and Riverside Dr. intersection may require some night work to reduce impact to motorists in the area. Drill shaft operations Bridge construction Walls ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Night closures of the intersection of Teleport Blvd and Riverside Dr (7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) will be required to minimize impacts to traffic in the area as crews complete utility relocations. This work is scheduled to begin on March 15 and is scheduled to last approximately 3-5 days. The intersection will be open to traffic during the daytime hours. Crews will continue miscellaneous asphalt paving patches along Lake Carolyn Pkwy/Teleport as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. Teleport will continue to be closed to thru traffic just after the Miss Bloomingdale's Academy entrance. Various temporary lane restrictions may be required for crews to complete their activities in the Teleport/Riverside area. Please monitor changes to traffic configurations, and use caution when traveling through this area. Crews will continue the remaining utility relocation work on Teleport. Lane restrictions on Teleport, south of Riverside Drive can be expected. Two way traffic will be maintained to and from Miss Bloomingdale's Academy. Teleport will continue to be closed south of Riverside Drive between 7:00 p.m and 6:00 a.m. as crews complete utility relocation operations. Access to and from Miss Bloomingdale's Academy will be maintained during the day. These activities are scheduled to wrap up the week of March 1. Expect impacts to the Riverside Commons fire lane over the next several weeks as crews continue utility relocation work and prepare for the bridge structure in that area. Girder erection for the Teleport bridge is scheduled to begin in early April. These activities are scheduled to take place at night to minimize impacts to traffic in the area. Road closures will be required to complete these operations. Details will be communicated as we draw closer. LAKE CAROLYN PARKWAY AREA: Construction activity is quickly ramping up in along the Lake Carolyn Pkwy area. Current activities include utility relocations that will require various lane closures and traffic configurations to provide a safe work space for crews to complete construction activities. Station construction activities are underway with grading operations that will impact traffic on both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy, south of O'Connor. Construction activities for crossings is scheduled to begin with grading operations in mid-April. This will require impacts to the intersections along Teleport and Lake Carolyn Pkwy. Please monitor construction alerts to minimize traffic impacts. Details will be communicated as these activities draw closer. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate pet walking and jogging routes. Motorists are also asked to monitor construction updates and observe and changed speed limits or traffic configurations when traveling through this construction zone. Motorists are not permitted to enter or park inside construction zones. Additional lane restrictions and rolling closures may be required to provide a safe work area as crews continue to progress with the project. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Hauling Curb removal Utility relocation Grading Station work ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Restrictions along Lake Carolyn Pkwy between Las Colinas Blvd and OConnor will be required for grading operations. Flaggers will be present to help direct traffic. Crews will continue miscellaneous asphalt and concrete paving patches along Lake Carolyn Pkwy as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. There will be lane restrictions on the inside, median lanes of both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy for utility relocation and grading activities, this work will be on-going for several months. Please see map (PDF file opens in a new window). Utility relocations along Las Colinas Blvd and into Lake Carolyn Pkwy will be on-going during March. These relocations will require various lane restrictions and a "rolling" closure that will direct traffic around the activity happening within the median. Construction activity for the Las Colinas Urban Center Station is underway. Construction activities will require lane closures on both northbound and southbound Lake Carolyn Pkwy south of O'Connor. CONVENTION CENTER AREA: Expect to see increased truck traffic and construction activity around the Convention Center area starting with grading operations. Drill shaft activities will continue through March in this area. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Grading Drill Shaft Operations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: The ramp from Hidden Ridge to eastbound Northwest Hwy (at Holiday Inn Express) will continue to be closed for bridge construction. The extended closure of this ramp has helped crews accelerate bridge construction in this area and minimized the need for night work adjacent to the hotel. Restrictions of the eastbound 114 frontage road near the SH 114/Northwest Highway split (near Holiday Inn Express) will continue. These closures are required to create a safe work space for construction of the 114 bridge structure. Restrictions will continue along the left shoulder of eastbound SH 114 just after the Northwest Hwy exit and on the right shoulder of the ramp from eastbound SH 114 to eastbound Northwest Hwy. This is the split near the Holiday Inn. The restrictions are required for crews to begin preparing for the 114 bridge structure. Construction activity is scheduled to continue for the Irving Convention Center Station along Spur 348 (between SH 114 and Riverside). Lane restrictions will be required along the right lane of eastbound Spur 348 for crews to complete these activities. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place through the end of the month. NORTH LAKE COLLEGE/CARPENTER RANCH AREA: Construction activity has moved into the Carpenter Ranch area around the Meadow Creek/Green Park Dr intersection and into North Lake College and MacArthur with utility relocations and bridge construction. Bridge construction and utility relocation work will continue around the North Lake College near the driveway entrance off MacArthur and around MacArthur Blvd (including the median of MacArthur Blvd) to prepare for the bridge structure that will extend over MacArthur to North Lake College. Construction activities in the area currently include utility relocations, drill shaft work, and column operations. Lane restrictions and partial closures of MacArthur Blvd will be required to safely complete some of these operations. Detour routes will be provided and some night work may be required to minimize traffic impacts in the area. Please continue to monitor construction alerts for details. Please use extra caution when traveling through this area and monitor changes to speed limits or traffic configurations. Plan your routes and allow extra time to reach your destination. Pedestrians need to remember that it is not safe for them to enter construction zones, so they will need to use alternate walking and jogging routes. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Utility Relocations Drill shaft operations Column operations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: Lane restrictions of the inside, median lanes of northbound and southbound MacArthur will be required for crews to complete drill shaft operations. These restrictions will remain in place for a few months as the bridge substructure operations (drill shaft, column, column cap) are completed. Beginning at approximately 7 a.m. the morning of Saturday, March 13, northbound MacArthur will be closed to thru traffic just after Windsor View to Hidden Ridge. These closures are required to provide a safe work area as crews complete drill shaft operations for the bridge structure that will extend over MacArthur Blvd. To minimize traffic impacts, crews will be working through the night to complete these operations. Traffic will be restored on the afternoon of Sunday, March 14. Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts. Please see traffic configuration map (PDF fle opens in a new window). Construction activity will continue in the area of Green Park and Meadow Creek for crews to continue utility relocates. These activities will require lane restrictions of southbound Green Park south of Meadow Creek and the westbound lanes Meadow Creek. Traffic will be shifted head to head on eastbound Meadow Creek just past the Green Park and Meadow Creek intersection. These restrictions will remain in place through the end of March. Lane restrictions on the far right lanes of both eastbound and westbound Hidden Ridge between Green Park and MacArthur will continue as crews complete utility relocation work. This work will be ongoing for several weeks as utility relocation work moves into the area. The week of March 8 the two right lanes of eastbound Hidden Ridge will be restricted for grading operations. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place for 1-2 weeks. The week of March 15 the two right lanes of westbound Hidden Ridge will be restricted for grading operations. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place for several weeks. There will continue to be restrictions at the intersection of Green Park and Meadow Creek. Green Park will be closed from south of Meadow Creek to Hidden Ridge. Detour information will be provided as construction activities draw closer. WALNUT HILL/HURD AREA: Construction activity will continue in the Walnut Hill/Hurd area through the month of March. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Utility Relocations ROAD CLOSURES AND LANE RESTRICTIONS: There will continue to be restrictions along southbound Hurd Dr during the daytime hours for crews to complete utility relocations. Truck access and business drives will be maintained in this area. Flaggers will be present to help direct traffic. These restrictions are scheduled to remain in place for about one week. There will continue to be restrictions of the far right lane of northbound and southbound Walnut Hill near Brangus for utility relocation work. Work in this area will be ongoing for several weeks. DFW AREA: Construction activity continues in the DFW area during the month of March. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Light clearing activities for geotechnical testing Please note that all dates are tentative as they do not account for weather delays or other schedule impacts.

Blue Line to Rowlett Updates:

Blue Line construction information

Beginning approximately Monday, March 15, there will be various lane closures in each direction on SH-66 between Country Club and Commerce for construction on the rail bridge. This work is anticipated to continue for the next several months. Beginning approximately Monday, March 22, there will be various lane closures in each direction for the following locations: SH-78 at Walnut Street Commerce Street between Curtis Drive and Old Country Club Road Main Street Bridge area between Jackson Street and Rowlett Road Streets near the future station location: Melcer Street, Richards Street and Coyle Street This work is anticipated to continue for the next several months.
