The Cultural Affair of Cowtown & Big D. A Tale of Two Cities.

Why wait 'til a friend or relative visits to explore your hometown? Be a tourist in your own backyard, and let public transit be your ticket to the Dallas-Fort Worth arts scene.

DART, the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and The T in Fort Worth connect you to many prime destinations, and a regional pass lets you ride all three.

Design an Art Day
Dallas' major art institutions are clustered in the Dallas Arts District at Harwood & Flora, a short walk from either DART's St. Paul Station or the M-Line trolley. The Nasher Sculpture Center exhibits one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculpture in the world with works by Calder, Matisse, Miró, Picasso and Rodin. The spacious galleries of the Dallas Museum of Art feature a permanent collection from pre-Columbian to modern. And the Crow Collection of Asian Art offers an exotic collection from China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia - pieces carefully chosen from the Crows' extensive private collection.

From the TRE's ITC Station in downtown Fort Worth, hop the Route 7 bus for quick ride to the Cultural District. Discover the Kimbell Art Museum, home to a permanent collection that reads like a who's who of the world's greatest painters - from Michelangelo, Matisse, and Manet to Picasso and Cézanne. Next door, the Amon Carter Museum displays some of the finest American art in the nation, including paintings and sculpture by Remington and Russell, and is a major repository of American photography. Nearby, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth focuses its lens on post-World War II modern and contemporary art with an impressive collection including Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, and Andy Warhol.

Explore Your World

The Museum of Nature & Science at Dallas' Fair Park is a wonderful place to explore the natural world through hands-on exhibits ranging from dinosaurs to DNA. It features the TI Founders IMAX Theater and a planetarium. Ride the DART Green Line to Fair Park Station.

In Cowtown, visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in the Cultural District to experience science education through attractions like DinoLabs, the Noble Planetarium, the Omni IMAX Theater and the Fort Worth Children's Museum. Take the TRE to ITC Station, then The T's Route 7 bus to the Cultural District.

Celebrate Women
Instead of the usual Girls' Day Out, explore the lives of outstanding women. At The Women's Museum in Fair Park, the latest technology and interactive media share stories of women's contributions to American life and history. Take the DART Green Line to Fair Park Station.

In Fort Worth, the National Cowgirl Museum exhibits artifacts and photographs - from boots and saddles to fine art - honoring the pioneering women who helped shape the American West. Take the TRE to ITC Station, then The T's Route 7 bus to the Cultural District.

Take to the Stage
The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in the Dallas Arts District is one of the acoustically finest halls in America, and home to the renowned Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Nearby, the eye-catching Margot and Bill Winspear Opera Hall stages dance and musical theatre, including the Dallas Opera and many traveling Broadway productions. And the new Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre - an engineering marvel 12 stories high - magically reconfigures itself to host classical and experimental drama, vocalists, dance and musical productions. Take DART Rail to Pearl Station.

In Fort Worth's Sundance Square, the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall houses the Fort Worth Opera, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and various touring Broadway shows. Over in the Cultural District, the iconic Casa Mañana presents the best of musical theater and award-winning original plays. Meanwhile, the legendary Billy Bob's Texas - the world's largest honky tonk - hosts major names in country music almost every weekend in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. From the TRE's ITC Station, take Route 1 to Sundance Square and the Stockyards; take Route 7 to the Cultural District.
