Glenn Heights Customers
Parking demand currently exceeds available spaces at Glenn Heights Park & Ride.
A Special Message From DART To Our Glenn Heights Customers
We are keenly aware of the recent surge in ridership at Glenn Heights Park & Ride and the resulting demands on parking capacity and bus loads. It is important for you to know what is being done to address both issues and alternatives that are available.1. We have completed the design work for a 204-space expansion of the existing parking lot. The plans are currently under review by the City of Glenn Heights and TXU, and upon approval, we can move forward with procurement and construction. Target date for completion is early Spring 2009. In the meantime, we will continue to explore potential temporary parking locations nearby.
2. Ridership levels are being reviewed to determine if schedule adjustments on Route 206 can better match loads. We are searching for any resources available to assist in this effort; however, ridership is rapidly expanding on a number of routes and our resources to expand service are limited. Also, please keep in mind that we are affected by the increasing fuel costs just as you are.
As we work to resolve these issues, we remind you that additional parking is available a few miles north, at Red Bird Transit Center (served by Express Route 278) and either Illinois or Ledbetter rail stations on the DART Rail Blue Line (please see information below).
The convenience and comfort of our riders are of the utmost concern to us, and we will continue to update you on improvements planned in Glenn Heights and throughout the system.
- Additional parking should be available a few miles north at Red Bird Transit Center, 4831 S. Hampton Road @ Marvin D. Love Freeway (Highway 67), with express bus service to Downtown Dallas on Route 278. Another option is Illinois Station, Denley Drive @ Illinois Avenue (2111 S. Corinth St., or Ledbetter Station, on Lancaster Road south of Ledbetter Drive, with service to Downtown Dallas on the DART Rail Blue Line.
